Tim Burton X Moleskine

This past November, MoMA opened a retrospective honoring the art of acclaimed director Tim Burton and to my dismay I have yet to attend but it is running until April 26th, so there is still hope!! To continue honoring the infamous director, Moleskine has created a custom 2010 weekly planner. The book features Tim Burton’s signature and the MoMA logo embossed on the cover along with a unique paperband featuring the names of several of Burton’s films. These titles are set atop images of one of Burton’s earliest characters, Vincent, the star of a 1982 short film created in collaboration with Rick Heinrichs.

Christian Siriano for Payless Shoes

I love Christian Sirano and I was so happy when he won Project Runway season 4. He is known for sending out insane shoes on the runway but now he has decided to do the same thing for his upcoming collection for Payless Shoes. The Spring 2010 collection is a more affordable version of what he sent out during his Spring 2010 runway show. The "claw" shoes are to hit stores in mid-march and will be priced under 100$CAN. Curious to see what they actually look like in real...

dont bite your nails..it may cost you!

Spreading through the blogosphere today is that information has been leaked that the new nail polish collection by American Apparel may contain hazardous materials and is quietly (well may be not anymore) being pulled off the rack. Jezebel reports that a concerned employee passed along this email:

"Hello,

Due to some quality issues with the glassware used in the American Apparel nail polish we are requesting all bottles be taken off the sales floor immediately. We are working closely with our vendor to improve the product, and will be shipping an improved polish within 5-10 days. Please remove the nail polish from the floor and store it in the back. We will let you know how to dispose of it on the Monday back stock conference call.

THE ABOVE IS CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE COMPANY ONLY. If customers inquire about the nail polish, please inform them that we are preparing our new stock and that they should check back soon. Also, let them know that we are launching 6 new colors for Spring! Give them a card to the store and encourage them to call and check if we've received our new shipment.

Your compliance is appreciated. Please contact me directly with any questions.

Thank you,

[Redacted]"

A little ironic since their main selling point is that the product is DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde free, three toxic chemicals often found in nail polish. Hmmmm.....

American Apparel nail polish?? ...yes it is true!

American Apparel is now heading into the world of beauty with an 18 color collection of nail polish that are DBP, toluene and formaldehyde-free. The collection is suppose to capture the world of American Apparel in a bottle. Colors are named after their inspiration such as a minty green color called "The Office" which is the same color as a notepad used on the 7th floor of the company's head office and "Factory Grey" the actual shade of grey used to paint all floors of the company’s manufacturing operation. The nail lacquer is retailed at 6$US each and a pack of three is available for 15$US.

This morning, it became official, the beloved Conan O'brien has called it quits with the network NBC. His last show will be tomorrow night, Friday January 22nd. It is not clear yet which network he will be moving on too (Fox seems to be the big contender) but he has time since he cannot work on any other airwave until September 1st of this year. Wherever you go Conan, I will watch.
