Brand of the day: Miss Wax

Miss Wax is an inventive jewelery brand that is geared towards streetwear fashion. Created in 2006 and based in California, the line is inspired by creator Kylee Dawn Fauss’ rebellious childhood. The collection consists of dangling earrings, cluster earrings, street inspired pendants, chunky and funky necklaces, rings, and her wonder of wonders, the magnetic bracelet

They have also recently teamed up with the clothing brand HELLZ BELLZ to create a wicked limited edition capsule collection showcasing a banging 'Broken Bottles' knuckleduster ring.

Prom Dress Trend: Stripper Chic

The new trend for 2010 prom dresses is stripper chic! According to the NY Post, "cleavage-revealing frocks, belly-button-baring gowns, and dresses made of barely enough fabric to make a washcloth" are all the rage this prom season. We are definetly no longer Pretty in Pink.

Get Me to Target

I am a bit obsessed with Target and pray every night that it decides to ship to Canada. Until then, I need to convince one of my lovely friends to drive me to Plattsburgh, Burlington. My next road trip is marked for April 25th since Zac Posen's collaboration with Target will be hitting the racks! For the Target collection he revisited some of his own iconic pieces such as the trumpet dress he made for Naomi Campbell in 2001. Another blast from the past, his snap dress, allows the wearer to “self-drape and self-create.” Here a few pics of the pieces I coeur!

Viktor & Rolf Fall 2010 Runway Show

By far one of the best shows I have seen in a while is Viktor & Rolf Fall 2010 runway show, which took place in Paris last week. The show was entitled ‘Glamour Factory,” and the show opened with model Kristen McMenamy dressed in 23 layers. The designers then undressed Kristen and put the garments on other models until Kristen was completely undressed. They then reversed the process and relayered her until she was back to her original multi-layered outfit. The only little issue is that Viktor & Rolf staged a similar show back in 1999. But it is still fabulous!!

Amy Winehouse X Fred Perry

Yes it is true, Amy Winehouse is going into fashion. The "special" singer and Fred Perry have partnered to launch a clothing collection. WWD released a first look at some of the sketches of the 17 pieces collection. The collection debuts in stores in October and will wholesale from 32$US to 150$US featuring a palette of mostly black and pink which includes a classic twinset; sexy pencil skirts; a mini bowling dress, and Fred Perry’s signature polo shirts The collection will continue over four seasons.

Coeur ou Brisé?

I am getting a little concerned with Louis Vuitton. Recently, they came out with a very expensive bag made of a garbage sac and now these boots for their Spring 2010 collection. Let me know what you think..maybe it's just me!

McQueen's Fall 2010/2011

A poetic, medieval beauty is the latest Alexander McQueen Fall 2010/2011. Due to the cancellation of his show, his brand had a beautiful presentation earlier this week in a private salon in Paris, banned from photographers. Majestic doesnt even describe how amazing this collection is, although not wearable for every day. However, I would definetly try to strut my stuff in the shoes!

Clutch your Legos

We have seen in recent fashion many lego accesories from belts to brooches. Now, Studio XXB challenged a group of designers to use LEGO blocks and create prototypes to be shown at the BrickWorld Exhibit . New York designer Kara Ross created a pretty nifty clutch.

How to Make it in to my Heart

My favorite new show is definetly the HBO tv show How to Make it in America, courtesy of Mark Wahlberg's production company, Closest to the Hole, which is also responsible for the popular tv show Entourage.

This entertaining series, shot on location in New York, follows two Brooklyn friends trying to make a dollar without selling out. Ben (Bryan Greenberg) and Cam (Victor Rasuk) are 20-something guys who are trying to start a fashion denim line called Crisp NYC.

After three episodes, I am still on the fence on the Cam personality but the character development is quietly subsiding and the plot is finally emerging a bit more. What I love is the overall visual esthetic on how it is filmed and the editing of the show is quite beautiful. I like the idea that they are looking at fashion from the eyes of two straight men, something that is not always common on television or in the movies.

As well, my two crushes star in this show Bryan Greenberg and Kid Cudi. Two boys that can act and sing and definetly look good doing it.
