I am currently working on my Psquared and the City post. Due to the nature of the post content, this song is in my head. I also bought it this morning on iTunes for 0.69$ since I didn't have my CD with me at work.

p.s. I picked the video from Montreal 2005 since my BFF and I were at that show! Nat, I think you remember me jumping for joy when this song started playing!

My Two MMVA Performing Highlights

MTV Music Video Awards were this past Sunday. It was a decent show where Lady Gaga was her man persona "Joe Calderone" all evening and ridiculous people besides Foo Fighters won. Half the world doesn't know who Tyler the Creator is and I really doubt Katy Perry has more talent than Adele. Alas, I need to manage my stress so I will stop my rant!

Although Kanye and Jay-Z performed their first single off their collaboration album "Throne", I give credit to the wifey of one part of the duo. Beyonce's performance was great, it was very Motown! I loved especially her little tummy rub at the end announcing her pregnancy and the proud papa in the audience jumped in glee (you can see it at the end of the video below). For my second fave, well no shock to anyone, it was Adele! She brought a moment of serenity in all the color chaos of the show.

I love Astronautalis and his new track is simply amazing. It is a preview to his new album set to release on September 13th! I already put this on my facebook profile, but just to obsessed!!

Psquared and the City: Osheaga

Ok, I am a little late on this post but it is due to life/work when you come back from vacation. Reality just smacks you in the face! I was happy that I got to be a part of Osheaga again this year even if it was just for a little bit. I only got to attend the Sunday festivities but it was well worth missing the two others days since I was on a girl-cation at the Jersey Shore...(post about our vacation will soon follow).

Osheaga was amazing. I got to see mixture of old bands (Cypress Hill, The Flaming Lips) with new favorites (City and Color, Beirut). My favorites of the day were The Sounds, Cypress Hill and Shad. Although I love Beirut, they had so much sound difficulty that a large venue for them is not enjoyable.

What I adore about Osheaga is the weird things that can happen...such as Shad and Dallas (lead singer from City and Color) performing a duo together, The Flaming Lips married a young couple from Calgary during their encore and Cypress Hill smoked the biggest joint I have ever seen.

Psquared and the City: The Black Keys

On July 11th, I got to see Cage the Elephant and The Black Keys in concert. I saw the Ohio duo last year at the Osheaga Festival but admit that seeing them in an inside venue did beat all my sound expectations. The show was amazing but sadly a short set of 75minutes which I think is due to the limited banter between songs. They did an amazing encore wearing Habs Jerseys which made the crowd go in an uproar.



If you do not know The Black Keys very well, here are a few fun facts about them:

1- The band's name came from a schizophrenic artist named Alfred McMoore that the duo knew personally.
2- They are from Akron, Ohio which was once known as the Rubber Capitol of the World (inspiration for the name of their third album "Rubber Factory" in 2004)
3-Their album "Attack & Release" was produced by the legendary Danger Mouse
4-Denise Grollmus, ex-wife of Patrick Carney, released an essay "Snapshots From a Rock 'N' Roll Marriage" offering a glimpse of happy days and sad moments of their ended marriage.

Psquared and the City: Weezer

Set list for the Montreal show, July 3rd 2011

Every Sunday, I will bring to you the highlight adventure of my week. Sorry for the missing post last week, but I was on a needed vacay in Mexico.

The first time I ever saw Weezer was in 1994, I was 14 years old, at the CEPSUM where they only played three songs since a fan hit River Cuomo in the face with a shoe. Tonight the show was divided into two sets: greatest hits (set 1) and the entire Blue Album (set 2).

The Blue Album was Weezer's first album which was released in 1994 and an album that I know all the lyrics too, queen karaoke of Weezer I guarantee!! It was definitely a trip back to memory lane, I was surrounded by people who had a childhood story to at least one of their songs: their first kiss, their soundtrack at the skate park, their first breakup, etc. I am happy I got to see them again, sing my heart out tonight and reminisce.

Psquared & the City: Foster the People

Every week, I will share with you an out and about moment highlight. I am happy that I am starting with an activity revolving around music. Music has been a strong component in my life, like most I guess. At the age of six, I was earning my allowance by categorizing my dad's vinyl which 25 years later are stacked in my living room as one of my valuable treasures alongside my piano that he bought me when I turned 11. Father's day is this Sunday and it is making me a bit nostalgic.


One of my favorite things to do is go to concerts. On a great summer night like tonight, what better than a bunch of cute Californian boys playing some happy music with an 80's vibe? I welcome you to Foster the People. With only one album under their belt, Torches, they are the band to watch out for. They are fun, they make you smile, they made me forget a sad ass moment that happened 5 minutes before the show and they made me dance, man, I havent danced in so long. Whether they are the hipster thing of the moment or sticking around for the long hall, you will go along for the ride and enjoy every second.

MCoeur Music of the Day: TV on the Radio

The new album from TV on the Radio, Nine Types of Light, has been in my ears on repeat for the last bit. It still saddens me that we lost one of the members, Gerard Smith, to cancer in late April of this year. There first track of this album to be released as a music video was Will Do and definitely one of my favorite songs, it gives me shivers.

Lollapalooza 2011 lineup is now up and let me tell ya, it is quite amazing!! I am just going to have to figure out a way to get myself to Chicago from august 5th to the 7th. The lineup has some of my dear loves such as Kid Cudi, Eminem (it is a guilty pleasure!!), Atmosphere, Ratatat, Deftones, The Kills, Foster the People, Sleigh Bells and especially the band that i have loved for sooooooo long RIVAL SCHOOLS!!! It is definitely a lineup fit for a 20th annivesary occasion!

J'MCoeur Adele

I think most of you know who Adele is. However, for those who have not gone beyond the singles and have not sat and listen to either of her albums, 19 and 21, you are missing out! If you know me, you know I dont love many female vocalists, but Adele's combination of storytelling and soulful voice captured my heart.

I also love how confident she is about what she looks like and what she stands for, a true role model for young girls. In her recent interview with Rolling Stone Magazine she says: "My life is full of drama and I won’t have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like,” she goes on by saying, “I don’t like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine. Even if I had a really good figure, I don’t think I’d get my tits and ass out for no one.”

And she is only 22....
