Psquared and the City: Osheaga
Ok, I am a little late on this post but it is due to life/work when you come back from vacation. Reality just smacks you in the face! I was happy that I got to be a part of Osheaga again this year even if it was just for a little bit. I only got to attend the Sunday festivities but it was well worth missing the two others days since I was on a girl-cation at the Jersey Shore...(post about our vacation will soon follow).
Osheaga was amazing. I got to see mixture of old bands (Cypress Hill, The Flaming Lips) with new favorites (City and Color, Beirut). My favorites of the day were The Sounds, Cypress Hill and Shad. Although I love Beirut, they had so much sound difficulty that a large venue for them is not enjoyable.
What I adore about Osheaga is the weird things that can happen...such as Shad and Dallas (lead singer from City and Color) performing a duo together, The Flaming Lips married a young couple from Calgary during their encore and Cypress Hill smoked the biggest joint I have ever seen.
Osheaga, I cant wait to be with you next year....

This will be me when you pick me up on Sunday
George: What?
Jerry: We're going on a two day trip, what are you, Diana Ross?
George: I happen to dress based on mood.
Jerry: Oh. But you essentially wear the same thing all the time.
George: Seemingly. Seemingly. But within that basic framework there are many
subtle variations, only discernable to an acute observer, that reflect the many
moods, the many shades, the many sides of George Costanza.
Jerry: (referring to George's outfit): And what mood is this.
George: This is Morning Mist.

Psquared and the City: The Black Keys
On July 11th, I got to see Cage the Elephant and The Black Keys in concert. I saw the Ohio duo last year at the Osheaga Festival but admit that seeing them in an inside venue did beat all my sound expectations. The show was amazing but sadly a short set of 75minutes which I think is due to the limited banter between songs. They did an amazing encore wearing Habs Jerseys which made the crowd go in an uproar. If you do not know The Black Keys very well, here are a few fun facts about them:
1- The band's name came from a schizophrenic artist named Alfred McMoore that the duo knew personally.
2- They are from Akron, Ohio which was once known as the Rubber Capitol of the World (inspiration for the name of their third album "Rubber Factory" in 2004)
3-Their album "Attack & Release" was produced by the legendary Danger Mouse
4-Denise Grollmus, ex-wife of Patrick Carney, released an essay "Snapshots From a Rock 'N' Roll Marriage" offering a glimpse of happy days and sad moments of their ended marriage.
One of many great tracks off their last album "Brothers"

Atmosphere "The Last to Say"
A beautiful serious song represented in a minimalist video to avoid taking anything away from the powerful message. I love Slug.

Go get yourself a more better forever."

Smurfette for Harper's Bazaar

My sister and I were huge fans of Smurfs when we were kids and collected a lot of the little figurines. I am not sure about the upcoming movie but Harper's Bazaars' idea of using Smurfette in the August issue is simply fabu! The Smurfette fashion spread showcases Fall 2011 best acessories from Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton and more!!

Psquared and the City: Jogging

Lately, there has been some drama in my life but what can you do, it's life and you got to suck it up. So when things get tough, releasing the negativity helps me cope and the best way for me is jogging.
I started this new addiction a few months ago. My brother motivated me to get off the couch and join him on a jog, little did I know, he was going to be Hitler in sneakers. I guess I should be thanking him since I can get off my couch all by myself now! It helps me release the frustration of the day, appreciate the nice weather we have for such a short time a year, enjoy the beautiful sights of my neighborhood and listen to my jogging mixtapes.
If peer pressure works for you, go buy some cute sneakers, put on your headphones and jog dammit!
p.s. I totally feel like a body break commercial. If you are Canadian, you totally know what I am talking about. If you are not Canadian, I suggest you google it.
A track that is on my jogging mixtape...an oldie but totally fitting!

One of those weeks...

I know I am having a really really bad week when I keep forgetting to put mascara on every day. Just to put it in perspective, I use mascara as much as I use toothpaste. Next week, please be better.

WeSC X Anna Sheffield Bing Bang

Next month, the Swedish brand WeSC will release their collaboration with Anna Sheffield, the jewelry designer behind Bing Bang. This street style collection got it's inspiration from downtown New York City, the punk movement as well as Victorian references. I am in love with this collection especially the headphones and the "forever" necklace. Prices range between 80$US and 120$US.

Psquared and the City: Weezer

Every Sunday, I will bring to you the highlight adventure of my week. Sorry for the missing post last week, but I was on a needed vacay in Mexico.
The first time I ever saw Weezer was in 1994, I was 14 years old, at the CEPSUM where they only played three songs since a fan hit River Cuomo in the face with a shoe. Tonight the show was divided into two sets: greatest hits (set 1) and the entire Blue Album (set 2).
The Blue Album was Weezer's first album which was released in 1994 and an album that I know all the lyrics too, queen karaoke of Weezer I guarantee!! It was definitely a trip back to memory lane, I was surrounded by people who had a childhood story to at least one of their songs: their first kiss, their soundtrack at the skate park, their first breakup, etc. I am happy I got to see them again, sing my heart out tonight and reminisce.
My favorite song from the Blue Album- Say It Ain't So
